37 Days – The Lord Will Bless This Year

Pastor Randy’s prayer:

January 7th Prayer

“The Lord will give you prosperity in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you, blessing you with many children, numerous livestock, and abundant crops. The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them. If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.” Deuteronomy 28:11-14

January 7
As we come to the end of our first week of prayer together, we ignite our faith in anticipation of God’s goodness and blessing upon this year. God really is a God of blessing. He is looking for a “bless-able” people on whom He might pour out His blessing. Let’s determine to be such a people . . . seeking Him . . . obeying Him . . . and prepared to be good stewards of His kindness.
Lord, You are able to bless any area of my life. I pray You would bless my family. Bless my children. Bless my finances, business endeavors and investments. Thank You for blessing my talents, gifts and abilities. Bless our church. Bless marriages. Bless our city, county, state and nation. I anticipate Your presence and Your blessing in my life this year . . . in Jesus’ name!

My thoughts:

I am often asked, “If God loves us, why xxxxxxxxx?”  Most of us are of the opinion that if we believe in God we are free from any harm, any negativity, any inconveniences or pain in our lives.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.  I do not know why bad things happen to good people, but I know God is not a God of evil, pain and suffering.  He is a God of love, truth and blessing.

If you read the full passage of Deuteronomy 28, you will find in the Old Testament days under the Mosaic covenant that God was a Lord of blessing to those that obeyed and followed His ways and path for righteousness.  Deuteronomy also covers the results “consequences” of disobedience for not obeying the Lord or following His commandments.  His detailed description of the curses to fall upon mankind talk of those that turn from Him.  Does this then imply that God can cause this pain and suffering?  The answer is, yes He can because He alone is sovereign.  But, let us recall that God was punishing only those people, who knowingly turned away from Him.  To those who follow Him, His commands and pathway He promises blessings and abundance.

In the New Covenant under our Saviour Jesus Christ.  This wrath, these curses were bore by Jesus on our behalf.  The punishments from God are still just as real, even to the point of eternal damnation, for those that blatantly refuse the His Son and the Holy Spirit.  The evil in this world is not from God, but from Satan, the ruler of this world.  He fell from God’s righteous plan, with every intent of denying the sovereignty and authority of God.  He embodies the evil that is apparent without God as your King, your Lord.

The evil in your life comes from this world and the consequence of being outside of His plan.  When we take our eyes of God the Father, we open ourselves to the evils of this world to come alive in our life.  To engage in the blessings of the Lord, we need to be spending our time with Him and focusing on His commands, His plans and His righteousness. Use this renewal of 2018 to focus on living in God’s blessings.

Be Blessed,

Rich
