Who Do You Belong To?

Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”  He saw through their duplicity and said to them, “Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?”

“Caesar’s,” they replied. He said to them, “Then give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”  -  Luke 20:22-25

Do you belong to God?  Don’t we all?  For it is He who has given us life, and has the ability to determine our time of death.  Our existence, from the moment of our conception to the moment of our last breath, is filled with the act of pursuing fulfillment in this life.  I propose that the only way to fully find that fulfillment is through the purpose of God, our Creator.  His miraculous design in your brain, heart and spirit have set you on a path of purpose for His Kingdom.  You are given every gift and talent you need to fulfill this purpose.  It’s what makes you unique in this world of stereotypes and cliques.

Eleven years ago today the Lord blessed our family with the birth of my youngest daughter – Emma Noel.  She is a beautiful, gifted, loving, happy child filled with the love of God and the ability to share that love with everyone she meets, unashamedly.  In her I see the humility, the charity, the faith and trust in God that each of us should be living with daily.  I look at her and dream of who I’d like to be, and I see glimpses of God through her eyes and actions.  At her tender age, she is a great example for all of us to give back to God what is God’s.

The world wants your time and treasure.  Your friends, your family, your acquaintances and even your enemies want all of you.  The choice then remains for you to give back to the world what belongs to the world, but give to God what belongs to God. Use your gifts and talents to share His love with those around you this season.  Tell them of His love and of His desire for their salvation.  You are given the opportunity to pursue Him through your actions, like a child, do this without abandon, and give back to God what is His.
