Demand It

Make 2014 a year of Sharing

“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” – Psalm 103:1

When you wake up and dread the day – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When you’re feeling lonely and lost the way – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When the love is gone and you want to cry – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When the news is bad and your anger’s high – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When you’ve lost your job and fear sets in – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When you can’t break free from the recurring sin – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When the one you love has passed away – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When depression sets in and you just can’t pray – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When the car won’t start and you’re running late – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When your patience is thin and you just can’t wait – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.

I believe you see the pattern here without me being so obvious.  This is not a life free of trouble or anger or strife or temptations, but it is a life that can be centered on something greater than your day to day trials.  The Lord is in control of all things and is worthy to be blessed regardless of the circumstances.  David was being pursued by armies and assassins throughout much of his life, simply because he followed the calling of God on his life.  In all things, good and bad, David was grounded in his understanding that his only authority in life was God Almighty and that despite his circumstances, mistakes and success’ he would demand that his soul cry out blessings upon the Lord.  His soul belonged to the Lord, and he knew this and was therefore commanding his soul to bless the Lord in all things.  This is the example I leave with you today, that although your life seems off track and out of control at times, your soul is always directly in line with God’s plan and is capable of blessing the Lord, despite your inadequacies and unrighteousness.  Sometimes, you need to remind yourself of this fact, by commanding your soul to Bless the Lord in all things.

Discovering Peace

Read It, Learn It, Live It, Share It

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.” – Romans 5:1-2

Sometimes, faith is all you have to hold on to. There are those days when life just doesn't make sense and we must fully embrace His sovereignty and grace.  The realization that everything we have in this life is temporary and that it can all be lost in an instant causes one to stop and reflect on the important things in life.  Love, family, friends and above all else my relationship with Jesus Christ.  There are unanswered questions, and there always will be.  Why did this happen, why do bad things happen, why did I lose my job, why did he get cancer, why did she leave me?  These are the times I fall back on my faith, and push aside the demands for answers to my questions, and trust that God is in control and can get me through the difficulties that come along my path in life.

I try to remain focused on the end game.  This life albeit full of strife and obstacles and rich blessings is also very temporary.  I am determined to push past the pains and live for the glory of God Almighty.  His plan is always perfect, and is not dependent upon meeting my objections in life.  I need to continue to align my life to His expectations and pursue His purpose, allowing the Holy Spirit to work within me and through me in this life, for as long as He allows me to.  I’ve accepted that He loves me and will deliver upon his promise of eternal life with Him one day.  To quote a song:
“The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
Time to sing your songs again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me…
Let me be singing when the evening comes.
Bless the Lord oh my soul . . . Ohhh my soul
Worship His holy name.”  - Matt Redmann (10000 Reasons)

Trust in His sovereignty and His love for you.  He will carry you through your pains and problems.  When you are weak He is strong.  Be blessed my friends.

Bless the Lord

Read It, Learn It, Live It, Share It

“Bless the Lord, oh my soul. . . ” – 10,000 Reasons, Matt Redman

This morning, I am sharing the lyrics of a song that has found a special place in my heart as I think of the incredible blessings that have been granted to me and my family.  Just for a few moments, reflect on the goodness the mercy, the grace and the love that has been shared in your family.  It’s so easy to seek out the shortcomings and take the blessings for granted. Today I’m telling you that you have permission to dwell on the positive in your life.

Bless the Lord, oh my soul, ohhh my soul
Worship His holy name.
Sing like never before, ohhh my soul
Worship Your holy name.
The sun comes up, It’s a new day dawning
Time to sing His song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes.

Bless the Lord, oh my soul, ohhh my soul
Worship His holy name.
Sing like never before, ohhh my soul
Worship Your holy name.

You’re rich in love and you’re slow to anger
Your name is great and your heart is kind
For all your goodness I will keep on singing
10,000 reasons for my heart to find

Bless the Lord, oh my soul, ohhh my soul
Worship His holy name.
Sing like never before, ohhh my soul
Worship Your holy name.

And on that day, when my strength is fading
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing your praise unending
10,000 years and then forever more

Bless the Lord, oh my soul, ohhh my soul
Worship His holy name.
Sing like never before, ohhh my soul
Worship Your holy name.
