Make 2014 a year of Sharing
“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy
name.” – Psalm 103:1
When you wake up and dread the day – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When you’re feeling lonely and lost the way – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When the love is gone and you want to cry – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When the news is bad and your anger’s high – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When you’ve lost your job and fear sets in – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When you can’t break free from the recurring sin – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When the one you love has passed away – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When depression sets in and you just can’t pray – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When the car won’t start and you’re running late – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
When your patience is thin and you just can’t wait – tell your soul to Bless the Lord.
I believe you see the pattern here without
me being so obvious. This is not a life
free of trouble or anger or strife or temptations, but it is a life that can be
centered on something greater than your day to day trials. The Lord is in control of all things and is
worthy to be blessed regardless of the circumstances. David was being pursued by armies and
assassins throughout much of his life, simply because he followed the calling
of God on his life. In all things, good
and bad, David was grounded in his understanding that his only authority in
life was God Almighty and that despite his circumstances, mistakes and success’
he would demand that his soul cry out blessings upon the Lord. His soul belonged to the Lord, and he knew
this and was therefore commanding his soul to bless the Lord in all
things. This is the example I leave with
you today, that although your life seems off track and out of control at times,
your soul is always directly in line with God’s plan and is capable of blessing
the Lord, despite your inadequacies and unrighteousness. Sometimes, you need to remind yourself of
this fact, by commanding your soul to Bless the Lord in all things.
