Read It, Learn It,
Live It, Share It
“Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like
a man beating the air.” – 1 Corinthians 9:26
When you got up this
morning, did you make a plan for the day? Or are you one of those that takes
things as they come, running aimlessly? Either way, your day will be filled
with unexpected trials and obstacles. This is a natural part of living and
we've all become so functional at dealing with these surprises.
I propose though that this is no way to live out a purpose filled life. We must prepare ourselves daily so that these twists and turns become manageable and purposeful. With God at the center of your daily plan you have a grounding that is stable and unchanging. You have the capacity to take on the day's challenges knowing that your direction is chartered and that obstacles are there to serve a purpose in fulfilling your growth objectives for the day.
You see when Paul wrote this letter to the people of Corinth, he was qualifying why he was able to persevere through the sin filled temptations of daily life. Through repetition, he studied God's word and communed with fellow believers to strengthen himself. In doing so, he knew that he would still be strong at the end of each day, regardless of what came his way.
This is good advice in this day and age, my friends. We are bombarded with sin filled thoughts - be it lustful thoughts, addiction, alcoholism, or idol worship; our society is lavishly thrusting temptations in our face daily. Break the habit of allowing yourself to be weakened by continually being with God each morning and planning your day. You will see the results and it will become easier to resist these ways in lieu of righteousness the more you invest in your relationship with God..
