You can’t do it alone

Read It, Learn It, Live It, Share It

"For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into pits of darkness to be held for judgment... (9)then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation...”    - 2 Peter 2:4, 9

A simple comparison of one's self to the righteousness of angels that have gone on before us will quickly bring us to a humility. But, consider that even some of these angels have been cast down to hell for their sins. What, angels sinned? Yes, even angels have sinned (reference the original fall of Lucifer and other angels or the reference in Genesis 6) and are not above the judgment of the Lord. We also find in Matthew 25:41 - Christ stating, "the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels". We clearly see then that even the angels will be held accountable and judge by the Lord.

In vs. 5 - 7 we also see:
      - He did not spare the ancient world (from a flood)
      - He did not spare Sodom and Gomorrah (from destruction)

and God promises to judge the unrighteous in the days to come, especially those who indulge in the flesh in it's corrupt desires (v10).

So, if the angels will be judged, how can we believe that we will not be judged. If we are to be judged, than how will we stand a chance of heaven if even the angels are cast down? One way and one way only - through the blood of Jesus Christ alone. For this purpose He was crucified, died and rose again. In doing so He took upon Himself our sins and our judgment. There will come a day when Christ will walk with you to the throne room and stand before the Almighty Lord of All on our behalf. His words echo through the heavens, "Father, this child is redeemed by my blood.", will quiet all of the demonic spirits scratching and vying for your soul on it’s way to eternity.  Followed by the loving voice of God the Father, "Welcome, good and faithful servant."

How do you compare to the angels, to those before the flood that walked daily with God, to those in Sodom and Gomorrah? Do you still hang on to the belief that you alone can overcome God's judgment? Are you prepared to stand on your own before the Lord's judgment throne one day and claim more righteousness than even the angels. Christ is willing to stand in your place, if you will only let Him. This is one decision you have to make, and that choice will establish the outcome one way or the other, there is no middle ground on this one.  Regardless of what has happened up to this point in your life, God’s grace is sufficient to cover all unrighteousness.  Not some righteousness but all.  Not because we were good enough, but because there is no way we can be good enough.  None of us know how long we have, and then one day, it’s over and then it’s too late to make a decision.
