I Want to Be Amazed

“Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed.   For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” – Habakkuk 1:5

There is unrest and injustice everywhere we look.
The world is alive with anger, arrogance, jealousy and self centeredness.
Tolerance has become a value in the open minded communities.
We turn a blind eye to the corruption as if it doesn’t matter.
The lies we hear become the truth we believe, to minimize confrontation.
How much more will happen before we’ve gone too far, or does that precipice already appear in the rear view mirror?

Perhaps it is part of the plan, perhaps it accentuates our need and desire for hope.  In Luke 21:10-24, Jesus tells us that these things will happen, but is anyone paying attention, does anyone care?

As we watch the evening news each day, we see the pot boiling.  There is tension in every land, there is suffering in so many ways, there are struggles for power, authority and control between man and country.  We look upon the issues and ask ourselves how this came to be?  Now the questions have turned toward how will we ever set it right?  One day we will realize that it is out of our hands and it is only through His miraculous intercession that all will be set right.

I fear the Lord’s wrath upon our people is just beyond the horizon.  The day is soon coming where His work will be evidenced to all people in such a way as only He could do.  People will be forced to address the question that has been avoided, and make a choice on their eternity once and for all.  If God can create an everlasting sun in sky in just one day; create water that will forever recycle through all of our days in just one day and create billions and billions of stars, planets and moons in just one day; how many days will it take Him to reconcile the debts of mankind?  I’m quite sure he can do that in a day – and the day is coming when He will.

Prayer:
Loving God,
You have loved us when we were unlovable.  You have poured out Your grace upon us and we turn it away.  You have given us complete salvation through Your Son – Jesus Christ – and we want more.  Forgive us Lord, have mercy on Your children as the end of days draw near.  My life has been filled with sin and unrighteousness, and I turn to Your saving grace for my redemption and I lean on the love of Jesus Christ for my salvation.  Help me to reach others with Your word that they too can see through the cloud of confusion in today’s world.  Make clear the path to those who seek You.  In Your Holy name I pray – Amen.

  1. As I was reading this, I thought about the people that have been killed or tortured because of the admittance to those in control that they believe in Jesus. I would only hope that if I was in a situation like that, I too would say I am a believer in Jesus Christ. "People will be forced to address the question that has been avoided, and make a choice on their eternity once and for all."

  2. In Paul's letter to the Philippians he wrote: "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." (Phil. 1:21)

My understanding of this is that while we are alive, live to the fullest to the purpose that God has called you, always presenting Christ to those you meet. One day, as with everyone on earth, our life will be taken and in that day we meet our Savior face to face. This has always put the fear of death out of mind. Do not fear, do not question, just live for Him, all out all the time. Be blessed.
